Urgent Update - GED® Services Ending
As of Spring 2024, Pearson VUE GED Testing Service (GEDTS) will cease to provide GED® testing in Canada.
The current Canadian version of the GED® will continue to be available until that time and remains a viable way to earn a high school equivalency certificate in Ontario.
TVO ILC, as the sole provider of the GED® testing in Ontario, is committed to supporting GED® candidates and will continue to provide the GED® service up until its close-out in the Spring 2024.
Here are some critical dates to be aware of:
|January 31, 2024||Candidates must register to write the GED® by January 31, 2024.|
|March 31, 2024||Candidates must schedule their test dates by March 31, 2024.|
|April 15, 2024||Candidates must complete all exams by April 15, 2024.|
|May 3, 2024||Pearson VUE GED Testing Service (GEDTS) will cease to provide GED® testing in Canada on May 3, 2024.|
|June 30, 2024||GED® certificates will be distributed by June 30, 2024.|
Adult learners can continue to access Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) through school boards to earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
The Ministry of Education is working with TVO ILC regarding possible future opportunities.
It is a priority to ensure that adults in Ontario continue to have access to educational opportunities, which empower them to develop and demonstrate the skills and knowledge that can help advance their lives and reach their potential.
