Instructions for Registering for Paper Based Test

Our 2021 Paper Based test schedule is still being developed but if you choose this option please put down your city of choice under session code: Barrie, Guelph, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Peterborough, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Sudbury, Windsor. You will be contacted when a Paper Based test session is scheduled in your region.


Instructions for Registering for a Computer Based Test

If you are choosing to write a Computer Based Test indicate CBT under session code. Computer test locations include: Brampton, Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Mississauga, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Toronto. There are additional sites however some may be closed due to local Public Health Directives.Once your registration is processed you will receive an email, within 5-7 business days, outlining your next steps in writing a Computer Based Test.

Make a copy of a document that proves you are 18 or older.

You may use your birth certificate, driver’s licence, photo health card, or passport.

Do not send original documents -- photocopy only.

Candidates who are 18 years old must provide a date of leaving letter from the last high school they attended.  Ask the last secondary school you attended to write a Date of Leaving Letter. Please visit the FAQ page for more information.

Home-schooled candidates must provide a letter from their Board of Education indicating that they have been home-schooled.

E-mail the completed application, along with your $100 fee and required documentation to TVO ILC.

If you are paying by credit card, you may email your completed application to ged@tvo.org.

If you are paying by certified cheque or money order, mail your application to:

Your application must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the testing date you select.

We keep applications on file for one year. After that time you must reapply if you have not written the GED® tests or if you want to rewrite one or all of the tests.


Fees

The cost of writing or rewriting the GED® tests is $100. This non-refundable fee must accompany your GED® application.

Payment may be made by money order, certified cheque, VisaDebit, or MasterCard. Certified cheques or money orders should be made payable to TVO-GED®. Please do not send cash. Personal cheques will not be accepted.

The GED® fee is determined by the cost of offering the tests on behalf of the GED® Testing Service.


Cancellations

The $100 fee is non-refundable.

If you register for a specific session, but decide to write at another session, you must contact the GED® at least ONE WEEK before the testing date to reschedule. Failure to do so will result in a $25 rescheduling fee.

You must reschedule to write the tests within 12 months of the initial application date. After that, you will need to submit a new application form and the $100 testing fee.

If you fail to show up for the test without having properly notified the GED®, you must submit a new application form and repay the testing fee.
